I didn’t understand the whole essence of github, I just download plugins and scripts from it.
Q: Does it contain malicious code?

More than one sane person will not inject malicious code into open source because it will immediately undermine the reputation as soon as someone discovers such code.
However, github itself does not check in any way what is uploaded to it (except for the file size) and, theoretically, anything can be uploaded to it
