Are there any programmers here, so to speak, who come from admins?
I myself, today, work as an administrator. It seems not quite boring... But gradually comes the realization that it's already disgusting to look at the hardware, set up computers, etc.
That's why I'm interested in this question: are there any programmers here, so to speak, who come from admins? If so, please share your experience: do you like the new job, are you drawn back to the hardware, and how did you come to the idea of becoming a programmer.

There are ... I can consider myself one of them. I served various pieces of iron for 3.5 years, after which I realized that I was tired of it. Tired because somehow monotonous, it became boring or something. Installed, configured and that's it .... it works and works .... There is no creative note ... And just like you, you decided to go to the web. I started with a simple one - a bunch of lamp. I have been working for 1.5 years - I really like it. Writing code, debugging it, optimizing it is interesting and, importantly, brings immeasurable pleasure. So keep it up! Change is for the better)
That that is tired to work as the administrator. He began to write muzzles to manage servers, and there he slowly left the system administration.
Habré is full of people with different education. Historians / biologists / chemists and everyone who switched to programming did not seem to complain :)
And in the admin panel there is no place to develop? I worked as an admin with computers, then I went to network hardware, now I'm leaving for the technical development of communication projects, in parallel I do freelance orders for setting up servers. So there is room to move in our area)
But what if we look towards Puppet / Chef / Ansible, etc.? To combine, takskt, pleasant with useful.
Yes, I wrote some scripts, automation, I liked it more and more, I went as an apprentice to a system programmer.
