Apple Cinema vs Dell UltraSharp U2711?

Who will advise what? Cases are cheaper, but the design is just a disaster. For the rest, they seem to be the same, with the exception of the LED backlight and the apple.
And one more follow-up question. I read that mbp before 2011 (i.e. without thunderbolt) cannot be connected to the new cinema, which only come with this bolt. And I need a monitor just to display the firmware.

Dell is matte, Apple monitors are glossy. Precisely as a monitor imho Dell is better (and also cheaper).
Apple Thunderbolt Display has a charger for macbooks, firewire (which airs and some pros do not have) and ethernet is not only a monitor, but also a docking station. It makes sense to choose it, not Dell, if the glossiness does not bother you and you need docking station functions.
PS It’s strange that you call dell’s design a disaster, in my opinion it’s quite pleasant - Apple, of course, has a better design, but at least there were no show off and bells and whistles, everything was at a minimum (and not like other manufacturers: what you just don’t meet is the shapes are somehow crooked, then a bright light bulb hits the eye for some reason, then the rim is shiny).

Blue can be connected to older models via a DisplayPort adapter.

Dell UltraSharp U2711 is made on a matrix manufactured by LG. - that's where the low price comes from compared to Nec or Apple monitors

I had almost such a dell ... I didn’t get enough of it, yet wide-gamut makes all colors much livelier.

If you do not have a poppy, then definitely a matte display.

I stuck a bunch of USB in my such a dell (this series is only smaller in diagonal). This is a plus.
