A trite question, but how to start freelancing?
The fact is that I know PHP, JavaScript and, of course, HTML, CSS quite well, but when I go to a freelance site and look at what tasks are there, it feels like there will definitely be a detail that I can’t handle. What types of tasks did you start with and what knowledge did you have?

I'll tell you a secret - in almost any normal task there will always be a detail that you do not know and, as it seems to you, that you will not be able to handle. But that's the job of a programmer - to solve problems. Therefore, just try, in the end you can always explain to the customer that you are not able to continue to do the work and return the money.
Well, getting out into the world is always difficult) let's say your knowledge is 80% and you will get the remaining 20% by working with projects like freelancing. Moreover, knowledge does not give anything, practice gives =) But practice should be, it is more important than knowledge. Good luck!
Work, work and work again.
Try to start with clothes.

Initially, there was the same fear.
But then he worked in a small web studio as a programmer.
The customer comes and says "Do this and that" and it doesn't matter if you can do it or not ;) If you do
n't do it, you won't get paid.
So here, if Google does not help in any way, then in the end you can always agree and explain yourself. Good luck
If you know the technology stack well, then you are unlikely to come across such a "detail" that you would not have figured out in a reasonable time. Unless there is something too specific (to write quadcopter drivers in css, lol), but such tasks are an exception.
My first freelance project is a web application for working with a complex data structure, and for some reason I received this order among 40 responses, without a portfolio and a price. This is how I got to know Symfony2. The second is a web application for managing and searching documents under MS SQL, despite the fact that I have never seen this DBMS before. Nothing, set, figured it out. Freelancing is a fun and unpredictable field where you are constantly forced to learn in order to take on projects. And therein lies its beauty.
