A docking station with a powerful graphics card?

There is a top ultrabook with good specifications - Sony Vaio Duo 11 with I7 and 8 GB on board.
But the video card, as usual, is frail in devices of this class. I saw that they are now releasing something like a docking station for laptops, where the video card is already much more powerful. There was simply a need for a more serious video card.
The question is - do such docking stations work only with these laptops or is there an option that will work with a third-party laptop? Or maybe they produce similar universal stations?
