XUbuntu 11.10, sis671, watching video
It would seem that the problem with the video driver is finally resolved once and for all. It seems that there are no problems with installing them, although of course there is no 3D acceleration, but I don’t need it by and large.
I installed the xubuntu OS a week ago, installed the drivers for the SiS Mirage 3 graphics sis671 video card, and everything worked perfectly, as it seemed to me at that time.
But today, I decided to diversify my everyday life and watch some movie. The standard player refused to play anything at all. Starts, slips a couple of artifacts - departure. All. Tried to install VLC, started browsing. Swearing to myself, I saw an error:
With almost one hundred percent certainty that things will not go any further, I click OK. And about a miracle! VLC started playing the movie. Rejoiced at the successful outcome of the case, I make a double-click in order to expand it to full screen and ... Xes fly out. No matter how I conjured, any manipulation with the position of the player window (even its banal closing) results in a crash of x's. I can only scroll and turn down to add sound.
Tell me, please, how to solve this most unpleasant problem? After all, do not watch movies in windowed-mode.
