If you choose PS3, then pay attention that the version of the current firmware is lower than 3.56, i.e. the maximum is 3.55, hacking such a prefix is ​​​​not a problem (no hardware or additional costs are needed), more precisely, even a preschooler can handle it.
If a set-top box comes across with a firmware version higher than 3.55, then at the moment they are also hacked, but this will require some material costs (about $50 + shipping) and, in the worst case, work with a soldering iron.
As for the subject, at our work we quite often bring our consoles to the office to play MK9 at lunch, so I can compare consoles from the point of view of the consumer.
PS3:
1. BlueRay drive (xbox dvd).

4. There are game exclusives such as God of War (if you take PS3, you should definitely play this game, there are practically none on xbox).

XBox:
1. Massive and well-placed gamepads.

In fact, the set-top boxes are very similar in terms of consumer qualities, but in the case of ps3 it seems much more thoughtful, at least I don’t know what to cling to in it, the technical implementation in it is ideal.
