Xbox 360 or PS3?
Hello. I absolutely do not understand anything about prefixes, I have never dealt with them. But there was an opportunity to buy a cheaper set-top box in America through a friend and I don’t know what to choose. The answer from me is trumpeted by the evening of this day. Who is in the subject - please, the main pros / cons and pitfalls of each of the consoles. I would be very grateful.

If you choose PS3, then pay attention that the version of the current firmware is lower than 3.56, i.e. the maximum is 3.55, hacking such a prefix is not a problem (no hardware or additional costs are needed), more precisely, even a preschooler can handle it.
If a set-top box comes across with a firmware version higher than 3.55, then at the moment they are also hacked, but this will require some material costs (about $50 + shipping) and, in the worst case, work with a soldering iron.
As for the subject, at our work we quite often bring our consoles to the office to play MK9 at lunch, so I can compare consoles from the point of view of the consumer.
PS3:
1. BlueRay drive (xbox dvd).
2. Dust cleaning system (in a special mode, it can blow out all the dust from itself, this does not need to be disassembled at all).
3. The presence of Wi-Fi.
4. There are game exclusives such as God of War (if you take PS3, you should definitely play this game, there are practically none on xbox).
5. Gamepads are charged via a simple usb / miniusb cable (xbox uses its own connector, I don’t know where to look for such wires if a dog gnaws them).
6. The d-pad works great on the gamepad, which is very important for playing Mortal Kombat fighting games. On the Xbox, the crosspiece is made in the same way as the stick, just with a different overlay, so in fighting games you can often accidentally jump or crouch, this problem is solved by buying special gamepads from Razer at a price of 1,500 rubles apiece, where this drawback is excluded.
XBox:
1. Massive and well-placed gamepads.
2. More comfortable body.
3. Less noisy (at least in my opinion).
In fact, the set-top boxes are very similar in terms of consumer qualities, but in the case of ps3 it seems much more thoughtful, at least I don’t know what to cling to in it, the technical implementation in it is ideal.
The most important advantage of the Xbox360 is the possibility of its firmware and the use of pirated games. The cost of the game = the cost of a two-layer DVD (25-50 rubles). On PS3, buy games for 1500 - 2500.
It seems that there is an opinion that Xbox is worse in terms of reliability.
Take the Xbox, it has more powerful graphics and clearer. More details here
At xbox'a, in order to play online, you need to pay a monthly subscription.
And if you use a broken line, then you can’t play on Xbox Live at all, or get banned.
As for disc prices, how much do you need to play per month? IMHO 1-2 games for this period is enough.
Of the exclusives, I would only regret Gears of War and Halo, but the PS3 still has more of its excellent games.
PS3. More exclusives. Gran Turismo, Uncharted, God of War, etc. But you can take the Xbox for the sake of the kinect. I recommend PS3, but the choice is yours.
I have an xbox. I'll write about the cons.
- Multiplayer in games only for gold accounts
- Only understands FAT32 on USB screws. NTFS does not understand some kind of dick (although it is based on WinNT). Consequently, preved MKV-shki and files in general> 2GB
- However, he does not eat MKV. As well as many other formats.
- You can’t see anything from the balls. In general, the balls do not understand. Only through Win Media Center.
- Absolutely dibile geopolitics. If your acc is from the CIS, you can forget about most of the Xbox Live features.
- As well as about the use of credit cards
And about the differences between the graphs on PS3 and Xbox, this is nonsense. Equally crappy in comparison with the top radeons. Yes, the iron is worn out.
Xbox is cheaper than PS3. Yes, and those who stitch them can always be found.
By the way, now there are god-games (Games on demand) on boxing. Which, with a little shamanism, allows you to run games from hacked live accounts. And this is possible without flashing the drive. You can run them (sort of) from external railways (it's easy to download).

And I bought myself an XBox with a kinect for my child and somehow I don’t itch to break it.
There are a lot of different casual games and mini games on the box (XBox arcade, ~ 300r), and various God Of War clones (Bayonet, Dante, Valgrind, etc., etc.) in GOD are available from 600r
The graphics in both cases do not shine, because the hardware is already A LOT of years.
Take based on the games released on the console. I would take PS3 because of heavy rain and mk9 for example.
Only as far as I know (just the PS 3 itself), the Xbox 360 has the same regional restrictions. Those. for an American console, you need to buy either American games or multi-regional ones. PS 3 doesn't have that. In general, PS 3 has a lot more exclusives. And these are real big breakthrough games. I can immediately recall only one Xbox exclusive this year - Gears of War 3. The multiplatform is about the same on both consoles. True, games for 360 usually sell better. Accordingly, there are more people in network games on the Xbox 360.
PS At the very PS 3. I am very satisfied and have never been disappointed in my choice. In September, I also buy an Xbox 360 just for one game - Gears of War 3.
All attachments have their pros and cons. A common drawback of consoles in my opinion is weak graphics. Where on a PC there can be excellent drawing of graphics, almost natural grass and detailing of each leaf on the trees, it will most likely be blurry on the console. But on the other hand, there will be no brakes and the need to upgrade hardware due to a new game.
Personally, I have a PS3. In principle, it suits everyone, but I bought it quite recently and therefore it will not be possible to reflash without buying additional. technical means. That is, do not play hacked games, do not put Linux on the console. If you buy a PS3 - try to buy with a firmware version of at least 3.55, since new firmware has not yet been cracked
And I would take an x-box complete with a kinect, a very interesting thing, I tried it.
1) take an xbox if you plan to play only single player or with friends at home
2) take a ps3 if you are going to add online multiplayer to the above
Bought xbox because of Halo and Kinect.
Apparently, I'll have to take another PS3 for Dust 514
. nothing in particular. Yes, and live in Halo is sometimes interesting to cut yourself.
