Would you recommend a Wi-fi router for PPTP connection?

Good day to all.
After moving to a new place of residence and changing the Internet from PPPoE to PPTP, the connection encountered the following problem:
When I connect the cable directly to the laptop, I get a speed of about 70-75 Mbps.
When connected through a router, both via cable and via Wi-fi, I get no more than 12 Mbps.
I googled, everyone refers to the brains of the router, they say they are too weak to handle such a "heavy" type of connection, and they advise switching to a more expensive model.
I’ll be happy to change the router, but I would like to ask knowledgeable people, but I’m sure that there are such people here, what kind of model to choose. I would like answers based on real experience, or just advice from professionals. Unfortunately, I am not a networker myself and I understand these matters superficially.
The model of the current router is DLink DIR 320 NRU.
Connection type - PPTP + static IP.
PS: I tried all kinds of firmware, it does not heal. There is no way to change providers.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you! I think to stop at Zyxel Keenetic II, because. gigabit ethernet ports are not needed.
