Windows server 2019 + Ubuntu on a virtual machine Vs Pure Ubuntu on a server?

I only understand system administration, so I apologize for the stupid question, however. A server was purchased with pre-installed (not activated, I have the key) windows server 2019. The bottom line is this. I usually work with ubuntu (as usual, and most of the necessary applications work on it only) and I want to put it on the server. The question is how best to proceed? Demolish windows server and install pure ubuntu or is it better to put ubuntu on windows server virtual machine? Apologies if this seems like a dumb question, as I'm just trying to learn the basics. Thank you.

For acquaintance/study - certainly put a virtualka. You can make dokhrenaliard copies, at any time erase any copy, configure as you like - unlimited possibilities.
You will like it to a pig squeal (and it is capable, really) and EXPERIENCE will accumulate - take down Windows and put the main one, what are the problems?

It all depends on hcl scl and your needs. I would make a list of tasks and decide what is more important.

And what are the tasks? I don’t think that the server was just bought because there was extra money lying around.
