Windows 7x64 does not burn DVD, how to overcome?

I have been using two programs for many years: UltraISO and CDBurnerXP. The programs worked on all versions from XP to dozens. Now it was required to burn a DVD with files (not an image) on Win7x64 - UltraISO pretends to be recording, but the disc remains empty. CDBurn says no disc and no compatible drives. Both programs erase files from the disk without question. There were files on the disk before that - they disappeared after erasing. What the hell could it be?
