Windows 7 bootloader recovery?
Although the title sounds trivial, but ...
There is a netbook, it was win7. before installing ubuntu 10.10, the size of disk C was changed using acronis disk director. Ubuntu got up, added Windows to grub, but it does not want to start.
I found options for restoring the Windows bootloader, but they require either the execution of the Windows bootrec program or the presence of an installation disk, which is currently difficult, because there is no external CD.
What can you advise in this situation?
The situation is complicated by the fact that I advise a person remotely. I'm thinking about a bootable flash drive with the image of the seven. Is this the only option?
Or could acronis break the system partition?

Not necessarily an image on a bootable flash drive, as you know, you can simply copy the contents of the Windows installation disk to the root of the flash drive / hdd, boot from it and start the recovery console (after choosing the language). In win7, the recovery console is the full version of the command line (I guess, sorry if I'm wrong), with some extras. utilities. That's where that bootrec will be.
In your situation, you need to type bootrec /fixmbr to restore the Windows boot record. If something does not help, try bootrec / fixboot, but then the hornbeam will be overwritten.
Boot from the installation disk (flash drive) and select "System Restore"
Open the console and enter: bootsect / nt60 C: / mbr
Reboot.
By the way, Microsoft's tool for creating a bootable USB flash drive.

if you only need the ability to restore without installation, you can remove it using UltraISO, etc. wim file with the system from the image.
