a task arose - on a relatively weak hardware (well, i5 / GT650 / 16Gb all right, but ssd is not offered, an ordinary hard, and a very ordinary terik from a seagate), at the same time, intensive work with the disk is required. besides - the task is set to use, as much as possible more recent OS from MS. the only thing that does not bother the consumer is the applications of the MS store (the whole range of interests is the classic desktop)
, it is obvious that the server in the role of a workstation almost completely meets these specific requirements. but what about LTSB (and if I'm not mistaken, in the latest reincarnation of LTSC)?
if someone knows the pros or cons of choosing between a server as a workstation and LTSB / LTSC - please share.
in particular, from what I know right away - in the sideboard, using the sconfig utility, you can set telemetry to the "security" mode (supposedly a complete shutdown), the sideboard also practically does not suffer from background "optimizations", but the 2016/2019 sideboards seem to be not friendly with GPU drivers - it turned out that sfc /scannow immediately starts showing a violation of the integrity of the system, just on * .inf files of firewood

upd - office work. I think surfing / documents / 1C. at the same time, this iron was 100% suitable for everyone, working under Linux. there was a requirement to install something screw. suggested 7/2008r2 - asked to look for an opportunity to "cut" 10k to "modest behavior"

The same server - there are not so many background tasks, so it will not create such a load on the disk out of the blue.
But with the active work of the user, everything will rest against the disk.
Disadvantages of the server - the absence of some familiar chips, there may be problems with drivers and installation of programs - some programs on the server are not installed in free or trial mode, or they ask for the appropriate edition.
If you play games - the server is not suitable.
