If the power cables pass in close proximity to the coil and if it is not shielded or not in the corrugation, there will be a pickup, and a bad ping.

There are ripples under power lines on analog cameras. That's how it was for me at least. Maybe the cameras are like that, of course, but the same cameras are in a different place and there are no problems. So I think interference is possible.
