Will there be a difference for SEO between a .ru domain or a .site domain?

Will the .site domain get worse promotion?
Basically, the site's services will be designed for Russia, but I would not exclude the CIS countries either. Therefore, I think that the .site domain would fit well, because it does not depend on a specific country.

.site/.ru/.com, etc. - indirectly influence the determination of the regionality of the site, which in turn determines the success of promotion on GEO-dependent queries, which, in turn, are most often commercial. We proceed from these data, determining the importance of choosing between .site or .ru
. If we are talking about website promotion in Russia, then:

  1. it is generally accepted that in Google in the region "Russia" (and the cities of the Russian Federation) domains with .RU are better promoted, because Google does not provide tools for a clear regional binding of the site, unlike Yandex.
  2. as for Yandex, it has tools for regional binding (in the Webmaster's office), which allows you to determine the regionality of a domain to almost any locality in the Russian Federation. Therefore, there will most likely be no difference between .site or .ru.

@Sanes

There has been no difference for a long time. New zones were added for a reason.
