Will fiber optic work?

Hello!
There are 2 laboratories at work at the Institute. One in the basement, the other on the 4th floor. Between them more than 100m distance. There was a need to expand the network and reach it up to the 4th floor and put a router there. Can this be done somehow with fiber optics? I heard that there are some converters that make a regular RJ-45 connector from fiber optics. Who thinks what?

You can try with an extension cord (repeater). There are such ones that work through POE tinko-sb.ru/products/e-poe-1g-320157 or analogues without POE.
You can put equipment with optics - exactly meet the length. Router/switch with SFP+ port and corresponding optics module.
In general, it should work without an extension cord at a distance of up to 120m without amplifiers / repeaters ... But this is already out of luck.

Yes, you can, it's a regular media converter, optics comes into it, and utp comes out. Or you can put switches sfp ports.

Google sfp. And switches with optical ports will do ... Full of these, the same dlink

If there is less than 200m inside one building and between switches, then just pull it with a twist and put a regular 5-port switch in the middle, you will find where to power it. it will be much easier and cheaper.
Well, if you have money and a contractor who will weld the fiber for you, then throw away the fiber and take switches with SFP.
But the fiber is usually dragged between buildings - where it is impossible to put active equipment among the line, or open laying utp does not withstand operating conditions, or high density is needed.
