Why won't my portable hard drive open?
System hangs at 90% when trying to open a WD Ultra portable hard drive. Attempts to correct errors through the command line fail. At first, the check simply stopped (hung), and now it just writes that there is not enough disk space (it is not clear which one ...).
How can this problem be solved? Thanks in advance

A portable hard drive usually consists of a USB controller and a 2.5 "hard drive. Try to disassemble and connect only the hard drive itself to the computer. See if it is detected in the BIOS, if so, then look at SMART, do a surface test. This way you will determine which part of the device failed. If the hard drive works separately, then you can try to reflash the USB controller.
