Why won't Linux install?
Good afternoon! I will say right away that I am installing Linux for the first time, therefore, I have never encountered such problems. The bottom line is that there is an HP Pavilion 15-cw0041ur laptop, on which Windows 10 was installed from the box. Recently I decided to put a bigger SSD and put Linux there as a second system. After installing a new SSD, Windows 10 got up without problems, but Linux was not installed in any (I tried to install distributions of Ubuntu, Manjaro and Mint). Each time it gives the following error: "The ext4 file system creation in partition #6 of /dev/nvme0n1 failed".

The point, of course, is not in the distribution, they all use the same utilities, subsystems for working with the disk. It is difficult to understand why not install without having a screenshot (or better, a description of what was done) at the disk configuration stage. The general advice is this: delete all partitions on a hard drive intended for Linux and try to create 1 ext4 partition for root mounting on all available space without changing the default settings: deleted, created partition, selected mount point "/" - that's all, Further. If in this case an error occurs, write, we will understand.
PS oh yes, look in the BIOS, do you have Legacy or UEFI boot? Try setting UEFI priority. And yet, with what and how did you create a bootable USB flash drive?
