Why won't Linux boot without nomodeset?
Hello, I installed kubuntu and ran into a black screen problem when choosing this OS in the grub list. Runs only with nomodeset. If you start the OS, you can see that artifacts appear in places (especially when using latte dock). It was clear that something was most likely wrong with the drivers (I have an amd radeon vega). But the Ubuntu program shows that there are no drivers for me (no additional drivers available). The ubuntu-drivers devices utility does not output anything, what are the options? Looks like something with xorg, but I don’t know what to do. (And besides, the system considers that I have several monitors connected and periodically prompts me to select settings)

Because the iron support is poor and at the moment you have a knee-mounted "driver" working.
Look for the proprietary driver on the AMD website and install according to the instructions that are googled.
But keep in mind that Linux may not support your video card at all.
1. Xorg and boot \ grub are not connected in any way.
2. Select the vga mode supported by the kernel (set in the grub configuration file)
Here is a list of them
