Why was iptables-persistent removed from Debian Stretch?

Who knows? It was a much needed package . Maybe someone is too lazy (namely, me) to write a script and a unit that will restore the rules when loading.

Well, don't write a script. Just add post-up and pre-down with iptables-restore and iptables-save to /etc/network/interfaces - the principle of operation and reliability are exactly the same.

@rostel

there is nothing to look at in the package
if you really need it, you can backport from sid in 5 minutes on your own

Debian 8.5
Пакет ставится как обычно apt-get install iptables-persistent,
только команда немного другая service netfilter-persistent restart
