Why might the mouse not work on ubuntu 14?

The mouse stopped working yesterday (the mouse is wireless, connected via usb). Tried to connect wired, to different ports, apt-get update & apt-get upgrade, apt-get install -f, apt-get autoremove, reboot. Plus removed nodejs (some conflicts were in the system). The mouse is 100% working, I tried it on Win 7 on the same computer, on another computer.
Usb ports are working. Notebook Acer E1-571G.
What can be checked, how to understand what the problem is and how to solve it?
Thanks

What is "ubuntu 14"? There is Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 14.10, but there is no Ubuntu 14.
First, look at lsusb, which is generally visible in your usb ports.

Found the solution here . A simple reinstall of the drivers and reboot solved the problem
Here is the command to reinstall the input drivers
Unfortunately, this was a temporary solution.
And the real problem was that the southbridge burned down.

We recently bought a laptop for my wife under Ubuntu 14.04 (in my opinion, I can’t reproduce the exact numbers). And then she was given a wireless mouse at work. The laptop has one usb 2.0 port, one usb 3.0 port. All! Well, I connected Svetka the hub, plugged the adapter into it - the mouse is silent. We are looking for an answer to the question on the Internet, we climbed here, it became inconvenient to poke around in the laptop without a mouse, I connect mine (on a rope). Both earned! Well, we are glad we found it. I pull out my mouse, the bluetooth stops working. Tried my mouse in one - it works. Then I guessed to stick the adapter directly into the beech, everything worked, firewood was found. However, we also updated the system along the way. Weak in electrical engineering, but I suspect that the problem arose due to the power supply (the wire is too long at the hub, the resistance is too high, etc. although this hat is, of course, creepy). Like, my mouse on a rope pulled a lot of charge on itself, and the bluetooth fell a little, and the bluetooth worked. Something like this.
