Why might GRUB fail to boot from a "modern" SSD on an old netbook?

Given:
- SSD disk taken from a PC with "modern" hardware, where the system was rolled (GRUB2, Ubuntu 14.04 x64)
- Netbook 2011 (asus eee-pc np150-plus)
If you install the SSD in a netbook and boot from Live-USB - the SSD drive is detected correctly and works fine.
If you try to boot from the SSD - just a black screen.
All possible combinations of BIOS settings have been tried (although there are not so many of them in that BIOS - boot priority, AHCPI disabled/enabled/enchanced/compatible, and some compatibility with DOS/Other)
Could this be due to MBR/ GPT/EFI/UEFI/... and what to do? Will installing the system at a time when the SSD is in the netbook help?

"Could it be related to MBR/GPT/EFI/UEFI/..." yes it can.
"Will installing the system at a time when the SSD is in the netbook?" - 90%, which yes, of course, this will be a new installation (i.e. the previous system will be deleted along with the data"
