Why might auto popup code completion not work in PHPStorm on Mac OS X 10.9.4 macbook?

The settings say everything is ok. But still, autocomplete by itself does not appear until you press cntrl + space 5d95504e51e907285e9d57c6a142a36563f4e892
ps macbook works with connected charging
Question: what to do? I want the popup with hints to appear by itself
