Why is Vmware workstation loading HDD?

Such a problem. Host system Win7 Ultimate SP1. Vmware Workstation 10.0.3 runs Kubuntu 12.04 and Xubuntu 14.10. It works fine, but sometimes critical moments come and the guest system freezes completely, everything just dies. The host system continues to operate more or less normally. At the same time, the resource monitor shows 90-100% load on the HDD, which is created by the vmware-vmx process. After 5-15 minutes he lets go and again the work is going normally.
What could be the problem? Tried to change the amount of RAM guest systems from 512MB to 2GB - does not help.
