Why is tun0 traffic less than Wifi network traffic?
Good afternoon.
Through ifconfig, it shows the following picture:
- wifi adapter = 4 GB
- tun0 = 1 GB
Through Wireshark, I checked the wifi adapter, there is nothing but OpenVPN traffic (well, STP and ARP, but this is something systemic). IPv6 is disabled and cannot be leaked.
Compression is on, but wasn't it the other way around in terms of traffic? After all, when compressing in wifi, there should be less than transmitted.

You have a message tun0 traffic goes through wifi. At the same time, service requests go through wifi, as well as VPN overhead traffic, namely service information, and other overhead costs, for example, encapsulation of packets collected by the tun0 interface into another ip packet to deliver it to the openvpn server.
