Why is there so little work on Odesk?

Recently he successfully completed two long-term contracts and with a pure soul rushed to look for a new job. To my surprise, Odessa now has an order of magnitude fewer ads. By request JavaScript 15 ads per day, but most of them are more related to other technologies: PHP, MySQL, website development. Job invitations no longer come (six months ago, 10 per day came, I did not have time to reject until I set Availability - Not available).
What happened during this time? Has any serious competitor Odeska appeared?

I think that the supply really greatly exceeds the demand.
Well, maybe people don’t want pure js, but frameworks like angular or node.js
Now the CIS is trying to outsource everything in order to receive money in foreign currency. In addition, poor countries such as India, Pakistan, did not become less. People there also want to eat, and more and more citizens from these states are also climbing to freelance abroad. Those. supply now greatly exceeds demand and prices, respectively, may be small. As for the small number of ads, I highlight 3 reasons: 1 - low level of quality, due to the fact that there are many amateurs on the market. 2 - Now it is really pre-crisis times in the West and in Europe as well, people have little free money. Obviously, code and web applications are far from the first things needed for survival, so that all free funds are spent on this. 3 - people, as soon as they find a good specialist, will prefer to contact him again and again, it makes no sense to roll out an ad for freelance. Those. the flow of new customers and announcements is decreasing, including for this reason.
In addition to Odessa, there is

Maybe because customers are just tired of messing with freelancers who work anyhow. Or they don't work at all.
If the customer has finally found a developer who works stably and responsibly, then he/she continues to work with him/them without any exchanges
Just my two cents

To be honest, I'm a little surprised by this.
Judging by the statistics, they do dozens of times more on JS on odesk than on python.
Although about 40 new applications have appeared on python in the last 24 hours, almost 30% of which are 3-6 months old.
Those. I do not see a market drawdown. I see only the expansion of requirements for candidates. But this is capitalism.

Perhaps the invitations do not come due to the fact that your profile was lowered in the rating, you completed 2 projects - the rating increased and the profile began to appear earlier in the list, time passed and the rating fell, respectively, invitations are sent to those who are on the first or second screen of the list .

Never noticed such a problem with javascript. Based on the results of work (2-3 years, I don’t remember exactly), both at the beginning of a career, and in the middle, and when the profile became well pumped, there were always a lot of offers / new jobs that you could get hired for - provided that you know (or claim what you know - you still learn in a day) new prodigies (it was a node 2 years ago, angular a year ago and react today). The customer also prefers full stacks.
Offers do not come because your profile could go down in the rankings. It is considered insane algorithms based on anything in your profile, including the set rate, which is empirically proven somewhere in the Odessa community.

Nothing has changed from the monitoring system, a lot of work is still falling, old work is still pulling on itself.
