Is it possible to make money on electronic homemade products?

Good day, smart people recently burned the installation into the mogz - do what you want, and money will always come with skill! After rummaging through ideas and thoughts, I came to the conclusion:
I want to make different devices, a good example of these can be found on hacknmod.com . That is, beautiful luminous, electronic things, whether it be a table with lamps or a sign "I <3 Moscow".
On the one hand, you can get a job in a company that mass-produces a certain topic, such as "advertising LED signs", and receive a stable salary.
On the other hand, you can go creative and create new, creative zagagulins, like a USB box that writes passwords to sites for you, or just a coffee heater to a predetermined temperature.
Again, there are groups of people creating interactive stands and looking to the future.
The question is, is it possible to earn money with handmade electronics? Even more precisely, is it possible to live on the income from sales and where such things are sold?

The question may be rhetorical, after all, there are always two boundaries, Mass production and Art, and where the execution of an idea falls between them should determine the price. After all, the newer and more popular the idea, the faster everyone picks it up and transfers it to mass production, adjusts the machines for stamping, and I should already have a new project coming out.
A small digression about myself, I'm generally studying to be a techie, and lightly touched on microprocessors and their application, putting together a logo that shimmers in colors. A trifle, but nice :) Difficult, dreary to understand, but all the same hooked. Concerning "How to sell?" There are two opinions - to offer their developments in souvenir shops and auctions.
Thank you for your attention, waiting for your opinion.

First, deal with the legal side of the issue and the peculiarities of small business in the Russian Federation.
You can make money , but the profitability of such production is rather mediocre :(
If you sell DIY kits, you can earn much more, look at least at MasterKit.
The competition in this segment is quite small: a maximum of 2-3 players in the Russian market.
With the right pricing policy and marketing, you can shake things up.

Let him try to sell 1-2 pieces on Ebay. Abroad, there are often collectors of all sorts of trinkets with decent money in their pockets.

Look at Lebedev Studio products.
Of course, there are oddities, but for example, a usb socket is very tempting, I have been thinking about buying myself for a long time.

I can say one thing.
My buddy and his "crazy hands" were selling some homemade gadgets.
1) assembled a small five-page site for suggestions
2) Collected the device. I put it up for an "auction", in the conditions it was, the winner could order a drawing on this copy.
3) sold it to the winner of the auction.

Everything seemed to be normal, but six months later he said. It does not justify itself and does not pay off.
Although some of his crafts were sold for 15-20k rubles.

If these are unique expensive author's works that can be considered a work of art, yes, it will be possible.
If these are inexpensive little things, no - single / small-scale production of consumer goods is unprofitable, and sometimes unprofitable.

Of course you can, and even more so if you produce some goods in single copies, I personally am ready to overpay even for an ordinary mug, knowing that only I will have it ...

Offtopic: Is there a scheme for assembling this miracle in the photo (Ice tube clock)?

I will join @IonDen in terms of eBay: I have never traded there myself, but I work in the foreign freelance market. The foreign market opens up quite a lot of opportunities. Try eBay, maybe that's what you need. Perhaps there really push a trinket for a lot of money
