Why is there a problem with manually registered DNS on the router and OpenVPN?

If I manually set DNS on the router (Google or OpenDNS, whatever), then OpenVPN stops working. Rather, he writes in the console that the connection is established, but the sites do not open, a DNS error.
Can be corrected? Use both your DNS and OpenVPN?

Probably the operator is "joking", does not allow any DNS other than his own. You can get around, use DNSCrypt . As a result of its use, the traffic for the operator will look beyond suspicion, like typical HTTPS, while for you it will be a full-fledged encrypted DNS. Normal HTTP is already being kicked out of the network, I see no reason not to use encryption in this area, especially in the case of VPN.
