Why is the verification code not coming to the linked mail?

Hello. There is mail on gmail and there is mail of the hoster mail.hoster.by, on which redirection to gmail is configured. In order to be able to send mail from the mail.hoster.by hoster account as an alias, I added it to my main one on gmail and now I need to confirm it by the code in order to finally bind it - I click bind, the code is sent to the mail.hoster.by hoster's mail and not comes. Why and how to set up correctly?

Note: Messages you send to yourself at an alias address won't appear in your inbox until you add it as a send address.

I came across such that if you enable forwarding letters to gmail on your server and send a letter from gmail, then gmail will not accept it back to the same mailbox.
Try turning off mail forwarding to gmail and after confirmation turn it on.

There is no magic there, the letter is simply sent to your *.by resource.
If you don't see it in your inbox, it means that it's either in the spam folder, or the cunning administration of the resource stops such things, and simply drops letters with a request for forwarding. Ask them a question.
What you have written in italics:
This feature has nothing to do with receiving confirmation, it is needed so that - until you mark the address with a pseudonym, when you try to send mail to yourself on Google - the letter will appear only in outgoing, but will not get into incoming.
