Why is the hard drive failing?
I exchanged a BLUE hard drive for 500GB under the WD exchange program. After installation, after some time of operation, the hard drive is turned off. If you restart your PC or reconnect the power supply, SATA connects and works again for about 5 minutes. Windows 8.1 is licensed, all updates are on board. The idle hard drive shutdown settings are set to 999 minutes. The SSD on which the OS is spinning does not turn off at all. PSU for 650 watts, and earlier, and in general, there were no jambs behind it. At first I sinned on the disk, then I dragged the SATA 80GB Barracuda - the symptoms are the same, it works for 5-8 minutes and then turns off. What could be?
PS: Mother ASROCK ITX H67M.

Disabled at idle, or even when working with files on disk? Is it disconnected in the sense of stopping or dropping out of the system? If the first one, you can try to disable auto-parking of heads, for example, using HDDScan or hdparm.
You can also experiment with BIOS settings such as SATA Aggressive Link Power Management, check BIOS updates
