Why is the Actual Start date not being set?

I want to record the start time of work on the task by the developer, but for some reason the date is not set in the actual start field. When selected, it simply resets to zero.

How to set this date?
Or which field to use for this?
I use jira cloud

Actual start is a date/time field. Therefore, I will assume that you do not select the time, but only the date. And then when the focus is removed, the field will not be filled.
But in this situation, I would recommend adding a post-function to the transition so that the field is filled in automatically.
