Why is Slack better than Telegram?

Are there any features in Slack that make it really indispensable when working in a team?
At first glance, it’s not clear why I need Slack if there are so many things in Telegram.

Answer the question

In order to leave comments, you need to log in

What I remembered in 5 minutes:

  • User statuses
  • Comment threads within a channel
  • Snippets
  • Syntax highlighting for a bunch of languages
  • Support in a bunch of different projects without the need for a file, often by the authors of the projects themselves
  • Ability to work without a mouse
  • Guest access to specific channels
  • Notification settings are wider than mute channel :)

In general, comparing telegrams and slack is not entirely correct, because using TG to work as the main messenger is a pain if you need more than one conf.
The main difference is that your work and personal correspondence is separated. In a telegram, a meme from a friend in PM can keep you busy for a couple of minutes. Slack is also possible, but this will mean that your colleague purposefully wanted to please you with a fresh meme.
In slack, companies are separated by servers, and it's more like Discord, only for work. There are channels on each server, for each channel you can very flexibly configure access levels and notification mode (even taking into account the employee’s time zone, no one will send you a nervous letter with edits at night)
Let's go over the pluses:
1. Each employee can set up custom notifications. Type

notify me when someone writes "synchrophasotron" or calls me by name
2. You can fumble syntax highlighting snippets of many languages and other attachments
3. Support for third-party services. Links from google docs and other services can be processed directly in the slack (for example, you can mark the completed task in Asana with a message in Slack, which is convenient for some)
4. Adequate bot, with web hooks and other goodies.
And now about the cons:
1. The native application eats up RAM very noticeably
2. Only the last 10,000 messages are available for free search (not such a critical minus if you don’t keep the fludilka on the same server)
3. No sticker packs and video messages in circles =(

In my opinion, Slack has the advantage of integrating with a bunch of different services.

Telegram ceases to be convenient when there are more than 5 team members

Escobar's theorem
I am for https://app.asana.com/ and for chatting and Skype is enough, which everyone has.

With the simultaneous use of slack and telegrams, telegrams are more convenient.
Slack is partly paid, the message history is overwritten, but it is more tailored for corporate chat.
There is a lot of content in the TG that can distract an employee from work, although what prevents the installation of both TG and Slack.
The advantage of TG is buns that can be used to automate work, bots for example.
So if there is a choice between TG and Slack, I would choose TG.

We used Skype before, then we switched to Slack - very good search, easy creation of channels, differentiation of rights, integration with a bunch of services - including our own (which do not crash when changing API), custom emoticons.

Slack, like many others, will be killed by the upcoming TON and the integration of crypto into the messenger. Although only chatting at work will do.

A lot of things, slack buns were described from above. In general, the optimal messenger for work and the team.
