Why is signal lost after OS boot?

Hello. Recently I got the idea to start my ancient computer. So, when I turned it on, after the Windows XP boot screen, the monitor loses its signal, and the computer itself is running. Immediately tried to turn it on through safe mode. Turned on. Everything is working. Video shows. Well, I thought that, even with the OS, I decided to put the seven. The installation went on, then after the first or second reboot, again after the boot screen, the monitor loses its signal. And when I run through safe mode, it displays a message like "The installation cannot be completed in safe mode. Reboot to complete the installation." Tried another monitor, also loses signal. Now they say that the problem is in the video card, but if it were to die, then nothing would be displayed on the screen at all, right? There is no integrated video card. What to do?

Bad video card.

They speak correctly. If the video card is faulty, it may not turn on at all, or turn on but not give a signal, or give a signal only in compatibility mode, and a thousand more options.
What to do?
Use a valid video card.

Display settings not supported. For example, the resolution or refresh rate is too high.
In safe mode and during the boot phase, the minimum resolution is used, 800*600 or 640*480. After the system boots, it switches to high resolution.
Or maybe the video card is faulty and stops producing an image in full mode.
One way to solve the problem is to boot into a low screen resolution mode (not safe mode, but nearby, it may be called VGA mode) and change the screen settings.
You can also uninstall the drivers for the video card from under safe mode.

Video chip chip. When installing the Drivers, the Map will turn off. In safe mode, in most cases, video card drivers do not work in the display. devices "standard VGA device" (in this mode, the computer will work for some time).
