Why is it possible to cut all path points except the last one with the "Cut path at selected anchor points" option?

When trying to select all points in the path, the native option "Cut path selected anchor points" disappears from the panel. Is there a way around this limitation?

There is a mistake in the function name. It's called Cut path AT selected anchor points and the title clearly states the functionality. It cuts the path formed by the selected anchors. Path only, only when multiple anchors are selected (and it doesn't matter sequentially or randomly).
When 6 points in a hexagon are selected, the shape itself is selected, and this functionality does not work with shapes. It only works with selected anchors.
Thus, you just need to correctly understand the names of the functions (if necessary, additional information is easily found in the manuals for the program).
