Why is Bitrix so popular?

It is not clear why CMS Bitrix is so popular and in demand on the market:
1. Code & architecture - dull and unbearable shit. Even the code of the same WordPress'a is more pleasant to read.
2. Paid and not cheap. At that time, there are quite a few free analogues that are better and more convenient, and the code is a thousand times cleaner and nicer.
It doesn't fit in my head - why do organizations keep buying it?

Put yourself in the place of the customer:
1. CMS with rich experience (more than 10 years on the market)
2. Has the largest share in Russia in eccommerce
3. Has free high-quality support
4. Has extensive documentation
5. In all regions from small to the most top studios, you can easily find specialists.
6. Backward compatible. Complete and unconditional. You will always get access to new features and you won't have to pay a lot of money to programmers to switch to a new version of the engine. the old one is no longer supported and it is teeming with holes.
7. Most of the functionality that you need is already ready and tested for years. Just pull the template, in fact, + customize the logic a little for your PSUs.
8. There is full-time integration with 1c, we have all the business in Russia almost on it.
Key : "business does not like risks", and therefore, in most cases, bitrix is the most convenient and profitable system for the customer, at least in Russia.
For 6 years of experience in the direction of web studios, I have seen so many companies that were written on some kind of:
a) Self-written engines
b) Free engines to which they nailed functionality that is not embedded
in them c) Or even on python / ruby
... which did not want to take any of the top 10-20 regional studios (RnD) for support, and then they rewrote the projects again ... on bitrix.
Bitrix is the industry standard for ecommerce in Russia. Now there is a global trend in the market - there is more and more work to support and develop projects than work to create new ones.
And when you write on the bitrix framework, you will always have a lot of work, because. bitrix is not only popular but getting more and more popular, follow the vector. Now it is in the top 8 CMS in the world , in recent years it has added 5 positions and continues to increase its share.
As for the quality... Sometimes the association with PHP comes to mind. PHP has won a huge market share for a long time, but then it had a certain period of stagnation. And here on the side are pythons, chop. And everyone scolded PHP, they said that it didn’t have the best OOP support (it improved a little with the first 5 releases), but articles in the vein of PHP were fashionable on the net, “PHP is everything”, now its share in the web market is bitten off.
But nifiga, due to the large community and rich inertia, PHP just began to improve, overcame the PHP6 crisis and disagreements, and voila, already php7 which is already "more or less", and php went uphill.
So I think with Bitrix. Rather, he will already pre-rewrite his kernel to human code than he will be removed from the market.
Work on the new core is being actively carried out, and for 4 years now it has been living in parallel with the old one. From release to release, more and more modules, components, database structure are being rewritten, which is important with support for code and data migration.
Well, what is important is the people who write this code. If you are in a top web studio with good architects and leading programmers, the bitrix Framework code will be written with high quality and competently on the new core in the tradition of OOP, using patterns, correctly assembled into modules and components. If you are a freelancer or in a small studio, most likely your projects will smell bad, all the logic will be in templates, or even in 1 template that will completely consist of solid routing.

Why is Bitrix so popular?

PR - two letters that make anything popular.

Bitrix = Marketing. In fact, Bitrix relies on site implementers/developers who somehow (whoever knows how) apply their product when creating a site because of the desire of the customer and receive a rollback.
Companies believe that if they buy the brainchild of Ryzhikov, then later it will be easier to find a specialist to finalize or maintain sites. Also, many companies have been working with 1C for many years, and a product with such a prefix 1C-Bitrix automatically gains trust and sinks into the hearts of customers.

This is one of the few cms that does not need to be sold, most often the customers themselves ask for it. Because marketing is doing its job. Try to explain to a more or less large business that has heard something about Bitrix that free wordpress is better (I do not claim this, but there are tasks when it is preferable)...

bitrix is disgusting, every time I feel fear and hatred when I see what's heaped up there ... they
buy it, because teams of guest performers travel around the cities, holding free seminars, where they hang noodles on the ears of potential customers who do not understand anything.
it's a shame for many quality platforms that are not so skillfully advertised

The new core seemed to promise to be solid, I really picked it 2-3 years ago. I even thought that someday this could really turn out to be a framework, and not cms. Haven't rewritten yet? I am silent about the components, most likely because of the back support they have not been touched until now.
