Why doesn't Ubuntu highlight the files I need from commands like "open destination folder"?

I will describe the problem: for example, I download a file from the Internet using any browser, then I want to see this file in a folder (the standard functionality is Open in folder) - the folder opens, but the file I need is never highlighted. The same will happen if you try to do the same with files downloaded using torrent clients - the “Open Destination folder” command always just opens the directory, but does not highlight the file I need. I'm surprised that this annoying flaw has not yet been fixed, so many releases in a row. I am using Ubuntu 13.04. Are there any ways to fix this behavior of the system, or is there a problem with the implementation of file highlighting in Linux (or specifically in Unity / Gnome)?

I think this is a problem of file managers, not distributions.
There is no way to fix it yourself, unless you write a file manager that will do this or fix a bug in nautilus / dolphin / pcmanfm yourself, etc. depending on which FM you are using.
By the way, are you looking for this bug? If not, look it up. If you don't find it, type it into the tracker. Maybe they'll fix it.

Looked - Dolphin is able to allocate files.
Judging by the question, you are a fan of Unity / Gnome, Nautilus is there, so I can advise you to install dolphin, but this will drag kdelibs and qt along with it.
