Why doesn't the internet work without a VPN?

I connect to the Internet via a usb modem, the indicator on the modem is on that the Internet is on, but there is no Internet on the computer and it says that "There is no Internet connection." As soon as I turn on the VPN, the Internet immediately appears.
How to fix this problem?
I tried deleting the default route and creating my own pointing to the IP address of the router:

route delete 0.0.0.0
route add 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 metric 1

But nothing happened.

Either the gateway or route is incorrect.
Did you get dhcp settings?
