Why doesn't namecheap redirect the domain to the specified IP?

I registered a domain on namecheap , created an A record, but when I try to ping the domain I get Unknown host , it's been 24 hours, what's the problem?

Most likely, instead of the domain name, you need to put @, and in this case you registered the IP address for the subdomain that matches your domain. For example, if your domain is mydomain.com, then you have registered an IP for the subdomain mydomain.com.mydomain.com
