Why doesn't macOS Monterey underline or correct misspelled words?

The necessary checkboxes are in the settings, but the automatic correction / underlining of errors does not work. (If this is stupid, then sorry, only 2 days behind this operating system)

Here's what I did: Apple menu > System Preferences, click Keyboard, then click Text. Choose spelling - Russian. And you can also check the box "automatically check for errors".
Only after that all the English words are underlined for me, I didn’t figure out how to fix it.
