Why doesn't Intellij see the project as just a separate Java file?

Intellij Idea does not see it as a project, my friend throws off our project to me and when I open it from mine, he does not see it as a project, but simply as an editor. I can't even run it. How can this be fixed?

You need to right-click on the folder with the sources and select Mark directory as -> Sources root

Good afternoon.
There may be various reasons for this. I would ask you to send screenshots of the project so that you can objectively assess the situation.
Do you have jdk installed? Also hold down ctrl + shift + alt + S and take a look at the project settings. Is the project a maven or gradle project and if so, do you have the said programs installed.
Also say what exactly your friend is giving you. Does it drop source or class files?
Basically, please provide more information.
