Why doesn't chrome work in a virtual machine?

Running windiws 7 from Ubuntu 14.04 in virtualbox.
Everything works like clockwork, but when you run it in a chrome virtual machine, artifacts start to go all over the screen and if you don’t close it, continue trying to use chrome virtualbox throws an error and closes.

What could be the problem?
