Why can't I paste anything from the clipboard into chrome?

The fact is that I can not put anything from the clipboard into chrome. Suppose if I copy a long site address, then first I have to paste it into notepad (gedit), then copy it from there again and then paste it into the address bar of chrome.
And most importantly, all programs interact well with each other, only chrome is "naughty". In chrome, you can paste copied text only from some applications. I can only copy from terminal or notepad so far
