Why does youtube browsing history stop saving?

I am writing here because all other options did not solve the problem. In the account settings "YouTube browsing history" there is a "save" checkbox, everything works up to a certain point, but within a day or several it disappears, and the history ceases to be saved. Moreover, videos that I have not watched appear in the viewing history. Only I have access to the device / account, no other devices are logged in, everything has been checked more than once.
At least 200 people signed up for this issue on the Google forum, and there's also a recommended expert response "Have you tried including history?"
Of course, I solved the problem with a browser extension that monitors the change on the page and reports if the text of the save / do not save button has changed, but all this is somehow strange and annoying.
Has anyone experienced this and knows the reason?

Also, in the history of actions in the account there is a choice of settings - delete for three months, or once every year and a half, or not to delete.
