Why does Word create such a file?
I create a file in Word, edit it, and while editing, a file appears (in the same directory as the original) ~SFile.docx. This was not the case before. Office is pirated, Windows is licensed. Could this be due to a driver update?

As I understand it, you are talking about the file with which backup recovery occurs. Let's say a mistake - you wrote an important text for 20 minutes, did not save it, the system thinks for you, the text will be restored from the backup, or its last autosave.
