How to automatically change the number of a table or figure in the text?

Hello.
In the Word program, I number figures and tables, and refer to them in the text by their number. I need that when changing the number of a table or figure, there will be an automatic change in the numbers in the text that refer to this table or figure.
How can this be done in Word?
PS I do numbering of figures and tables in Word in the following way: right-click on the figure or table, select "Insert title" in the context menu. Next, I set the desired parameters and click "OK".
PPS To refer in the text to a table or figure, I use "bookmark" and "cross-reference". That is, first I add the number of the table or figure to the "bookmarks", and then I insert the number into the text through the menu "
But when changing the number of the table or figure, the number in the text does not change.
