Why does Ubuntu crash when opening settings?
Good evening. After installing Ubuntu as a second OS, everything was fine, but after a while (a couple of days) there was such a problem as Ubuntu crashing to the screen with the user's choice. When I click on the settings or launch many other applications installed by the standard, I get a black screen, and after 5-10 seconds it prompts me to select the user under which I need to log in. I also tried to create a new user right after rebooting the OS, but it did not help! When a new user is opened, the system goes out again for a couple of seconds and the user selection window opens. A couple of times when a black screen appeared, an inscription appeared attached to the question in the form of a photo.

Because the driver for the video card is a miserable shvabodny from a shaobshestve.
Set it to proprietary, if the video is from Nvidia, then it's easy to google.
