Why does the temperature increase when changing the position of the laptop?

Good day. A strange problem has arisen. The keyboard on the laptop broke, so I began to use it as a system unit (connected a monitor, keyboard) and put the laptop itself in the closed state not horizontally, as it always seemed to lie, but vertically, near the wall, with a lid with ventilation from the wall, and the cooler did nothing closed.
As a result, such a picture is observed. The desktop, everything is closed and the temperature of the processor is 95-98 degrees, although in a horizontal position it is 44-48. The cooler does not care about the temperature, he sees that the load is no more than 4% and is working normally, while the air is cold and the laptop itself is not hot anywhere except in the processor.
I discovered this oddity by accident, friezes appeared when watching a video on youtube (720-1080), I decided to check it and was surprised.
But if you leave the laptop vertically but put it on the other side (there was a cooler on the bottom left, it became on the top right), then the temperature also becomes normal (within 55 degrees)
Can anyone explain why the cooling is not working properly in a vertical position and why changing the turn to 180 lowers the temperature by 40 degrees?

Heat pipes, for example, cannot drive the coolant in the wrong position and, in fact, do not perform their functions.
There are such copper tubes filled with a porous substance and liquid, apparently this liquid cannot move correctly.
Although it's weird.

In the cooling path of any laptop there are two grilles - inlet and outlet. Sometimes one of them is displayed on the side. If you put the laptop like this: 5y9t2b4hbAbtmDu7rXdTnq5hWdtx6kVQOxKF8TBrthen this grill will be plugged and the cooling path will be blocked, and the consequences are exactly as you described.
So just don't put your laptop in that position.
