Why does the server on CentOS 7 not start after installing the graphical shell?

Good afternoon.
There is a clean VPS from the hoster, CentOS 7 x64 is installed, nothing else. I enter only three commands:

yum groupinstall "X Window System"
yum groupinstall "MATE Desktop"
reboot

and that's it, the server won't start anymore. no ftp, no domain, no socket, nothing works.
If set like this:

yum groupinstall "X Window System"
yum install gnome-classic-session gnome-terminal nautilus-open-terminal control-center liberation-mono-fonts
unlink /etc/systemd/system/default.target
ln -sf /lib/systemd/system/graphical.target /etc/systemd/system/default.target
reboot

then everything works fine, but the desktop constantly crashes after a while with an error.

did you read the logs? what do they write?
