Why does the router not connect to the provider via pppoe?

Asus rt-n11 router.
I set the WAN type to pppoe, entered the username and password, the router reboots, but there is no connection in the status, the IP is not assigned. I entered exactly the same login and password when connecting the cable directly to the computer - everything works. I called the provider, in the support they said that only successful attempts to connect from the computer are visible, they don’t see the connection from the router, i.e. the router is not connecting. What can be wrong?

If the provider does not see a connection attempt, I'm embarrassed to ask, but is the cable inserted into the correct port?

Asus never knew how to make network devices. maybe a polar fox came to the wan port. go to the router settings, somewhere there is quite possibly a dual wan function. activate the desired port, lace there and call the provider.
