How to organize the storage of mail NOT on the server?

The bottom line: there is corporate mail for 10 employees, all mail is stored on the hosting server, in the same place where the sites are located, mail organization via Maildir (well, where the cur, tmp folders are), tariff plan: 5GB. These 5GB are filled in a couple of months, sites take up 20MB, everything else is mail, all employees use the local Outlook mail client, the IMAP protocol, constantly buying new gigabytes is not an option. Question: How can I make sure that all mail is stored on the local computer of each employee and not on the server?

Use POP3 instead of IMAP. Only each employee should have a separate mailbox.

Refuse hosting and install your own mail server :) Well, or if the mail has no value, there are no common mailboxes like [email protected], and if it disappears (for example, in case of failure), this loss is simply ignored - you can use pop3 - it's honest pumps mail to users' computers.

Switching to POP3 instead of IMAP will transfer all mail to Users' computers.
BUT! It will turn out a hard binding of mail to the computer, a breakdown of the User's computer can lead to the irretrievable loss of ALL correspondence of his mailbox.
Try switching to free corporate mail Yandex or MailRu.
