Why does the picture twitch when connecting an external monitor to macbook?

I connect an LG monitor via hdmi and a canyon adapter to a macbookpro 17th year. The picture twitches, artifacts, terrible quality. Changed hdmi and a little better, but still the same. What could be the problem? Can't the vidyuha breathe slowly? Mac itself works great. SMS and nvram dumped
